Hello everyone and welcome to the Autumn Newsletter which has rapidly turned into the Winter Newsletter!
We are busy planning our first Senior Camp. This is going to be held at Aberystwyth on 3 / 4 April. There is an affiliated competition taking place on 5 April and it is hoped that as many as possible will stay and compete. Programme is still being finalised, but it promises to be a great two days. We already have Angela Niemeyer Eastwood who is a German Grand Prix rider and BD trainer booked to do some training and also Andrea Hessay who is a listed judge and BD trainer. I have attached a booking form for this camp. If you are interested in attending please complete the booking form and return to me, together with your cheque (this secures your place but will not be cashed until after camp). There are only 24 places available due to stabling so if you would like to attend please return your booking form asap.
Following on from the successful competition this year, the date for next years Senior Inter-Regional Competition is 24/25 May. This will be held at Keysoe College, Bedfordshire. We are hoping to be able to send 6 teams from Wales. This is a great competition and if you would like to be considered for the teams could you please let either Scott Gregory or myself know. Schedule is still being finalised but it will probably be along the same lines as this year.
There is also going to be a Senior Home International, which is taking place at Hand Equestrian Centre on 11/12 October. We hope to be able to send our full quota of teams from Wales to this event. Again the schedule is still being finalised and once I have full details I will forward on to you all.
As with all our team competitions clothing will be available for you to purchase should you wish to do so. We are also looking at sourcing some Wales team rugs for both our senior riders and our BYRDS riders. Again these will be available to buy for those representing Wales in team competitions.
The Welsh committee are running a competition for someone to design a team rug for Wales. It needs to incorporate the Welsh colours and also have a Welsh theme. If you would like to enter this competition please send me a sketch showing both sides of the rug and front fastenings, together with any logo/design etc and colours. It doesn’t have to be a fantastic piece of art! These designs will then be judged and the winning design will be used for the team rug. The winner will receive a free rug. Entries for this competition close 30th December. The rugs are being supplied for us by Four Seasons Horse Rugs who are based in Ceredigion.
Scott Gregory has arranged a visit to Carl Hester’s yard on Thursday 7th February, 0930 - 1300. We will be able to watch Carl work horses from 4 years to Grand Prix and there will be an opportunity to ask questions. The cost for this will be £15 for BD trainers and judges and £20 for anyone else. We need a minimum of 20 people and can take a maximum of 30. Please support this visit, as it is always very difficult to get dates for these visits. Once I know who wants to come I can look at sharing lifts etc. If you are interested in attending, please send a cheque made payable to British Dressage to me at my home address.

BYRDS are still going from strength to strength in Wales. Having done consistenly well throughout the Summer there were some good individual placings at Sheepgate in August.
